Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to some of the questions clients ask me
What do you mean by holistic therapy?
As a holistic therapist my role is to support the whole of you – mind, body and soul, to encourage your body to balance and heal itself.
What are the main benefits?
Holistic therapy works wonderfully alongside conventional medicine and other therapy such as counselling, but if you have any major health concerns, I will always advise you to check with your GP before starting sessions with me.
Can you diagnose my condition?
I may also advise you to seek alternative or additional therapy (such as physio) if I feel unable to offer you appropriate help.
How often should I have a session?
If this is not possible, then fortnightly or monthly can still be beneficial, but may take longer to achieve the same outcome. Having said that, sometimes one session can be enough to “reset” mind and body.
What should I wear, and do I have to remove any clothing?
For Reiki you will be asked to remove shoes, for Reflexology I will need to work on your bare feet. With Indian head massage it can be helpful to wear a vest top or similar, and for body massage it is necessary to remove clothing down to underwear.
How will I feel during a session?
Will I have to make conversation during the therapy session?
Many people go into a deeply relaxed, meditative state throughout, and this can be the best way to get full benefit from your session. You can of course talk at any point if you wish to.
How will I feel after a session?
Tension, pain and discomfort is often released during a session, so it’s usual to feel lighter, looser and altogether better. Sometimes as the body has been encouraged to go into ‘healing mode’ by easing tense muscles, releasing toxins and negative energy, you may temporarily experience headache, general aches and pains, and even feel groggy for a day or so.
It’s a good idea to drink plenty of water and rest. Try tuning in to listen to what your body needs.
Does my health insurance cover my holistic therapy?
It is worth asking your insurance company whether they cover other therapies too.
What about COVID?
In line with government advice, I am now taking bookings. I’d like to reassure you that I will adhere to strict AoR Hygiene and Covid Secure Workplace Policy, in line with government guidelines.
I have completed a Coronavirus Awareness course and work responsibly at all times, applying risk assessment, helping us all to stay safe and well.
So, to clarify a few things:
1) I may need to ask a few simple risk assessment questions the day before treating you.
2) Some of you may have had your covid vaccination/s – if so, please wait 2 weeks or more after your jab, to book in for a Reflexology/holistic treatment.
3) If you haven’t had a vaccination, NO PROBLEM! I strongly believe it is YOUR BODY, YOUR CHOICE.
4) I will never insist that you wear a face covering – I totally understand that anxiety, illness, or disability can make it unbearable or unsafe to wear one.
If you have any other queries, please get in touch.
I look forward to seeing my regular clients and meeting new ones!
