Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to some of the questions clients ask me

What do you mean by holistic therapy?

As a holistic therapist my role is to support the whole of you – mind, body and soul, to encourage your body to balance and heal itself.

What are the main benefits?

Holistic therapy can help you to relax, ease anxiety, stress and tension, release toxins and boost energy. This can help you to feel more positive and in control of your life generally, which can improve health and wellbeing.

Holistic therapy works wonderfully alongside conventional medicine and other therapy such as counselling, but if you have any major health concerns, I will always advise you to check with your GP before starting sessions with me.

Can you diagnose my condition?

During a session I may become aware of an imbalance within the body, or something affecting your wellbeing. But it is important to know that this is NOT the same as a medical diagnosis – I will sometimes suggest that you seek a diagnosis from a GP.

I may also advise you to seek alternative or additional therapy (such as physio) if I feel unable to offer you appropriate help.

How often should I have a session?

This will vary from person to person, depending on the reason for therapy and the therapy type. Usually, I would advise a course of 3-6 sessions, ideally weekly to start with, especially for chronic, longstanding conditions.

If this is not possible, then fortnightly or monthly can still be beneficial, but may take longer to achieve the same outcome. Having said that, sometimes one session can be enough to “reset” mind and body.

What should I wear, and do I have to remove any clothing?

It is important to wear comfortable clothing, which you can keep on during some of the therapy sessions offered.

For Reiki you will be asked to remove shoes, for Reflexology I will need to work on your bare feet. With Indian head massage it can be helpful to wear a vest top or similar, and for body massage it is necessary to remove clothing down to underwear.

How will I feel during a session?

This will vary from person to person and will also depend on the therapy chosen. As a general guide, it is usual to feel deeply relaxed and calm, often with sensations of heat, tingling or coolness within the body.

Will I have to make conversation during the therapy session?

After initial consultation which includes filling out a health and lifestyle questionnaire, most of the therapy session itself won’t require you to make conversation.

Many people go into a deeply relaxed, meditative state throughout, and this can be the best way to get full benefit from your session. You can of course talk at any point if you wish to.

How will I feel after a session?

This will vary depending on the therapy and the person – you may feel deeply relaxed, sometimes sleepy, and many people sleep well afterwards. Alternatively, you may feel energised and ‘supercharged’!

Tension, pain and discomfort is often released during a session, so it’s usual to feel lighter, looser and altogether better. Sometimes as the body has been encouraged to go into ‘healing mode’ by easing tense muscles, releasing toxins and negative energy, you may temporarily experience headache, general aches and pains, and even feel groggy for a day or so.

It’s a good idea to drink plenty of water and rest. Try tuning in to listen to what your body needs.

Does my health insurance cover my holistic therapy?

Many health insurance companies now recognise Reflexology as being beneficial to health and will cover treatments carried out by qualified and accredited Reflexologists like myself.

It is worth asking your insurance company whether they cover other therapies too.

What about COVID?

In line with government advice, I am now taking bookings. I’d like to reassure you that I will adhere to strict AoR Hygiene and Covid Secure Workplace Policy, in line with government guidelines.

I have completed a Coronavirus Awareness course and work responsibly at all times, applying risk assessment, helping us all to stay safe and well.

So, to clarify a few things:

1) I may need to ask a few simple risk assessment questions the day before treating you.

2) Some of you may have had your covid vaccination/s – if so, please wait 2 weeks or more after your jab, to book in for a Reflexology/holistic treatment.

3) If you haven’t had a vaccination, NO PROBLEM! I strongly believe it is YOUR BODY, YOUR CHOICE.

4) I will never insist that you wear a face covering – I totally understand that anxiety, illness, or disability can make it unbearable or unsafe to wear one.

If you have any other queries, please get in touch.

I look forward to seeing my regular clients and meeting new ones!

I have been having a combination of reflexology and reiki treatments with Nadia for the past few weeks and have found them both enjoyable and physically and emotionally therapeutic. Nadia is a wonderfully intuitive and extremely skilled therapist. She creates a warm, safe and comfortable environment to enable you to get the most out of each treatment. She is extremely person centred in approach and tailors each treatment to your own needs. I have been having these treatments alongside talking therapy and have found that they complement each other perfectly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Nadia to family and friends.

My son and I have had regular Reflexology sessions with Nadia for over a year now. Having no previous experience we didn't know what to expect. However from the very first session I could feel release from internal areas of congestion and from stress. Now more than 6 sessions in I can feel energy flows through my body. Its absolutely amazing and so unexpected. Nadia is brilliant at explaining this ancient therapy and what's going on inside your body through her treatment.

Nadia is the consummate professional throughout all aspects of her work. In these extraordinary times clients can be assured that she works safely for all parties during COVID. Nadia is an empathetic and supportive practitioner. I recently underwent hip surgery. Prior to the surgery I was in constant pain. My weekly reflexology and reiki treatments helped to alleviate the pain and allowed me to cope whilst awaiting surgery, and now ongoing through the recovery process. I would not hesitate to recommend Nadia to anyone.
